JP Morgan Chase and Co. has reported a trading loss of whooping $2 billion. It happened because of a failed hedging strategy. The shares of the company tumbled after this disclosure. Its reputation is also hurt seriously.

The bank had successfully fought the financial crisis of 2008-09 and rose to become the biggest bank of the US. But, this revelation can create problems for it and in extension to the whole financial system. The clamor for more regulations has already started to come from various quarters.

Chief Executive Officer Jamie Dimon has said that it happened because of error, sloppiness and emanated from the bad judgment in the hedging strategy. Cisco, the network equipment behemoth, is seeing some financial troubles. The fiscal fourth quarter growth prediction of the company is far below than the expectation of Wall-Street analysts. The shares of the company tumbled today reflecting the disappointing outlook.

Cisco stocks fell by nearly 9 per cent on Wednesday after its executives announced that the company’s expectation for the next quarter is not so good. In the fourth quarter the company is expecting growth of only 2-5 per cent.

The analysts were expecting growth of 7 per cent in the quarter ending in July. Investor reactions to the news were spontaneous. The solid earnings report for the current quarter was brushed off and the stock tumbled violently.

As far as data is concerned, Cisco earning has risen by 20% over one year to $2.6 billion. It has logged $11.1 billion in sales. This result is certainly in line with the prediction made by many Wall-Street analysts. But, this couldn’t save the stock after the bad outlook for the next fiscal.

Cisco is trying hard to restructure its business model. The company is focusing on technologies which are crucial for business. It is streamlining the organizational structure of the company. Cutting 6,500 jobs last July was the part of this restructuring.

Serbia is all set to host the world’s largest solar park. The Serbian government is reported to sign an agreement to build the park at the cost of 2 billion Euros (estimated). Chinese state news agency Xinhua reported this quoting Tanjug, the Serbian news agency.

The solar park will come into an area of 3,000 hectares with the capacity to produce 100 MWp (Mega Watt Pick) of electricity.

Serbian Minister Oliver Dulic has signed an agreement with the Luxembourg based ‘Securum Equity Partners Europe’. The memorandum signing ceremony was attended by the Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic.

The construction of this amazing park will take around five years with 3,000 workers.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Serbia will give 3,000 hectares of land free of cost to Securum. The government is expected to earn 750 million euros in terms of taxation from this park.

An official privy to details has said that the work for the construction of this park will start at the end of this year. The company will soon start to finalize the location of the park.

Serbia is perfect for solar park since it receives 40% more solar radiation than other parts of the southeastern Europe. The country has also an industrial tradition ensuring the availability of a large pool of skilled labor force.
